Directions for use

“ I can see that 7 generations will go by and then all the colors of humanity

Will be gathered under the sacred tree of life.

And the earth will be in the shape of one circle again”

Crazy Horse

Before any personal prayer said by each participant, either within the circle or helper, one main intention is said for the dance. And this intention is peace. It is peace that calls us, it is peace that gathers us together, that inspires us and gives one direction to our organization. Peace is the way taken by life to have its full potential. It is only when in peace that we can be ourselves, it is only in peace that we can celebrate life. It is in peace that we are free. And so, we can fulfill our lives, with joy, we can contemplate the beauty of what is around us, be grateful for what is given to us, love and accept love. And thus we can then forget a little about ourselves and turn our eyes towards the people who are suffering, and pray, pray for peace to be much larger than us.

The rituals that our Lakota brothers and sisters maintained and shared with the people of the earth are filled with the love and kindness of the white buffalo calf woman. They also are demanding, as is life on earth. And, it is to the earth White buffalo calf woman is inviting us :”With this sacred pipe ,you will walk on earth”.

What is given with the sacred pipe are the directions for use of life on earth, of fertility of the earth and of its people, and of harmony between us.The main word is peace. Our rituals are therefore not for warriors. On the contrary, these rituals are made to make us humble. The prayer is this very movement of humbleness from the one who calls for help, who asks for help because if he is alone, it is too hard for him. We do not dance alone, we dance together, connected to one another; energy coming from all directions feeds us and takes us a little farther away. This is not about showing how strong we are but how humble we are. It is not about fighting on but about giving. It is not about sacrifice but it is about coming back to life. Piercing, which is the heart of the dance is exactly an action of rebirth. The Sundance teaches us then how to come back to the motion of life. Peace is the other name for this motion. In order to put it into action, Howard suggests 4 directions to follow:

1 do not spy on each other

2 learn to get along and we do that by helping each other

3 dance your prayers

4 respect my authority

We walk towards peace in a sacred way. The Sundance is the last ceremony taught by the white buffalo woman. It is quite a recent ceremony, created for our times, for the earth to live, for our people to live, for us to find our place back in the universe, in peace, in joyfull peace . We really are blessed being able to rely on Howard Bad Hand’s presence during this Sundance in France!

May this beautiful dance be blessed, peaceful, joyfull,

May it bring us help to live better,

So that everyday we can say :

“it is a good day to live!”
