The sundance is organised by the “c’est un beau jour pour vivre” foundation. The small founder group made of jolly fellows relies on you to participate widely at the organisation of the camp, at making meals ,cutting wood… We start this year by relying on the good habits that we took during the vision quest camps of the “clan du loup”. We will use the kitchen equipment and the usual structures of the camps. You will notice in the next page that we still need many things. A Sundance is quite a big thing and we hope that we will be numerous for settings, unsettings and other material tasks.

What you have to know so far

Donations

We suggest a donation of 200 euros to the foundation for the expanses.

And it is all included, you know!! Food, campsite, water, wood for the fire, equipment, plane tickets.

Then we'll provide enveloppes where you can put donations to helps the singers, the leaders, Howard, Mathieu, JR.

For those who need it, it is quite possible to pay in different instalments

Finally, no one being stopped from praying for money reasons (as long as he is sincere), we prefer to see you rather than your money, so give as much as you can, but do come ! You are most welcome with or without any money !

As you can guess, we do need some money in advance to purchase food, and other equipments. So please send us 100 euros in advance to association “c’est un beau jour pour vivre”, 437 route de Pouilly, 74350 Allonzier la Caille, France, or using the foundation account. Send us a mail and we'll give you the bank informations.

For those who can afford more money, for the dancers, for the people asking for healing, please make donations in gratitude. Please help us!!

The organisation

We wish to function mainly by self management, meaning that we all are responsible for the group tasks. There is not one person in charge of the cooking, of the fire or others, but there are teams made up everyday according to everyone’s energy.

We will use writing boards to make up teams.

There will be each time one person who has some experience to make sure that everything is fluid.

On every day of purification we will meet during a” talk circle” so as to meet, to express oneself and to organise the whole thing.

Camping

Everyone is supposed to bring his own tent, van, caravan, tipi or…

Guillaume treated us with a large space, which will allow everyone to come and to park the cars. We will get dry toilets ready, spots for solar showers. So rustic, isn’t it?

Have your camping equipment, sleeping bags, chair, flash light etc…

Cooking

We'll have our meals altogether. The meals are usually without gluten and lactose.

Of course, there is cheese for those who wish and butter too. The meals are not vegetarian but we will cook vegetarian meals as well ! Everyone will be satisfied as long as we know about specific eating choices.

We will need help to prepare meals, to go shopping, do the washing up… We rely on you !

Don’t forget your own plates, bowls, cups, forks, knifes and spoons…

There will be one spot for the meals under a tent to cook and a shelter to have our food if necessary.

The fire

​

It will be lit in a protected spot. It has to be watched continuously first because it is not supposed to extinguish and also because it must not get bigger… Once again, we will have a board to make up the different shifts. We will also need good willed people to serve during the sweat lodges. Guigui is in charge of the supervision of the fire team. He will instruct you joyfully.

The cedar.

​

Every day of the dance a team gathers to fumigate with cedar the four doors of the arbor. The fragrance of cedar fills the sacred circle in a sweet way. Helping with the cedar is a good way to get close to the dancers and to help them. A board is waiting for you ! Gabrielle will know how to instruct you with grace. 

 

The sweat lodges

Everyone is invited to participate to a sweat lodge everyday during the first 4 days of purification. It is an obligation for the dancers. They are purification lodges that is rather short lodges. Don’t worry, there will be enough people pouring the water to make everyone sweat…

During the Sundance, the dancers go into the sweat lodge during one door in the morning and one door in the evening. The camp helpers can ask for a lodge in the evening. The fire keepers as well as the singers can also go into the sweat lodge in the evening. Maybe More stones will be necessary then...

The drum

The joyful group of singers has been practicing in Balmont for more than a year now. The voices are strong and the drum is powerful. More singers are welcome to come sing along as singing takes a lot of energy. To sit with the drumers though, you'll have to master the off beat and to follow the lead of the lead singer.

The sales of cd and tee shirts have the purpose to help us get the budget for a nativer singer to come help and teach us. Please donate to the foundation.
